Username / Display Name

A username or display name is the text label that identifies you to other people in a chat. On anonymous platforms it is usually chosen by you (or randomly generated) and does not have to be your real name.

A good display name for anonymous chat balances being memorable with not giving away identifying information — using your full real name, for example, undercuts the anonymity the platform is designed to provide.

The username is separate from any private account details (like an email used to register), which stay hidden from other users.
