Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using TruChat securely.

Is TruChat really anonymous?

Yes. As a guest you chat under a display name you choose — no email, phone number, or real name is required. Your age, gender, and country are shown to help people find compatible chats, but nothing that identifies you. If you register, your email stays completely private and is never shown to other users.

What is View-Once Media?

View-Once lets you send a photo that the recipient must "Hold to View" and that hides in the app after being viewed once. It reduces casual resharing — but like any image sent online, a determined recipient could capture it before it is hidden. Never send anything you couldn't afford to be saved.

Can screenshots really be prevented?

Not fully — no website can completely stop screenshots or someone photographing their screen with another device. View-Once makes casual saving harder, and that's all any platform can honestly promise. Treat every image you send as potentially permanent.

Someone is harassing me. What can I do?

You have control over your experience. Hit the "Block" button on their profile or message — they immediately disappear from your app and can never contact you again. Also "Report" them so our moderation team can act.

Can I use TruChat on my phone?

Yes. TruChat is built as a Progressive Web App (PWA). Just open the website in your mobile browser and tap "Add to Home Screen". It installs like a native app without taking up space or needing an app store.

Can I permanently delete my account?

Yes. Registered users can go to Settings and select "Delete Account". Guests can use "Clear Guest Session" in Settings, and expired guest sessions are removed automatically. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what is deleted and what is retained (for example, moderation records we must keep by law).

Is TruChat for adults only?

Yes. TruChat is strictly an 18+ platform. We require all users to be legal adults. Anyone found violating this rule will be permanently banned.
