Pseudonymity
Using a consistent fake name or identity, rather than being fully anonymous or fully identified.
Pseudonymity is a middle ground between full anonymity and using your real identity: you interact under a consistent chosen name (a pseudonym) that is not your legal identity but is stable enough to build a reputation or ongoing presence.
It differs from anonymity, where there may be no persistent identity at all. A pseudonym lets people recognize you across conversations without knowing who you really are — useful for building trust while still protecting your real-world identity.
Most "anonymous" platforms are technically pseudonymous: other users see a consistent display name, while the platform may hold minimal account details needed for moderation.
