Phishing
A scam that tricks you into revealing passwords, payment details, or personal information.
Phishing is a type of scam where an attacker poses as a trustworthy source to trick you into handing over sensitive information — passwords, payment details, verification codes — or into clicking a malicious link.
In chat, phishing often appears as a stranger or bot sending an urgent-sounding message with a link ("verify your account here," "you won a prize, claim it now"). The link leads to a fake page designed to capture whatever you type in.
The defense is simple and reliable: never enter passwords or personal details via a link someone sends you in chat, and be suspicious of any conversation that quickly pushes you toward an external site.
